Swedish manufacturer Midsummer has selected a location for its forthcoming 200 MW factory that will produce CIGS thin film solar cells for the European market. The factory, which is being partially funded by a €32.3 million grant from the EU Innovation Fund, will be located in the municipality of Flen, southeastern Sweden.

The company will take over the premises in September this year, and expects to begin production in 2026, before scaling up to full production capacity in 2028.
