With some 10,000 ships visiting Marseille every year, this is one of the busiest ports in the Mediterranean. And with all those ships needing power while in port, air and noise pollution has been a challenge for city authorities. But now a new technology from ABB is helping cut those port emissionsto nothing.
This project, located in the port areas of Marseille, will provide local renewable energy production to complement the terrestrial electricity source (Enedis national grid). The plant will be installed on the roofs of 6 port buildings, producing a total output of 9 MWp. It will be controlled by Smartgrid software.
