V2G can improve the overall efficiency and stability of the power grid through peak-shaving and valley filling and its emergency response capability.
An off-grid EV charging station is a self-contained power plant that can charge one or more electric vehicles without a permanent connection to the utility grid. Solar panels capture energy, a charger controller conditions the power, batteries store it for later use, and an inverter supplies the alternating current required by most chargers.
Future research must examine the potential for utilizing other variable RE sources, such as geothermal, oceanic, or tidal energy. Geolocation-specific RE sources can also be explored; for instance, integrating tidal energy with the wind in coastal regions may be more advantageous for EV charging.
Quite a few works are reported on various aspects of the RE source integration with EV charging technology. More recent works have focused on EV charging schedules from RE and automated pricing methods [19, 20]. Similar works included V2G and smart charging for power regulation, grid stability, power quality, and reliability [, , ].
