Abstract: With the spatial flexibility exchange across the network, mobile energy storage systems (MESSs) offer promising opportunities to elevate power distribution system resilience against emergencies.
The primary advantage that mobile energy storage offers over stationary energy storage is flexibility. MESSs can be re-located to respond to changing grid conditions, serving different applications as the needs of the power system evolve.
Referred to as transportable energy storage systems, MESSs are generally vehicle-mounted container battery systems equipped with standard-ized physical interfaces to allow for plug-and-play operation. Their transportation could be powered by a diesel engine or the energy from the batteries themselves.
